LtCol Anthony Bariletti was born in Flushing, NY and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in Political Science/Pre-Law. Commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) program, he graduated The Basic School in May 2003 as a Tank Officer. Following graduation from the Armor Officer Basic Course in Fort Knox, KY, then 2ndLt Bariletti reported to 1st Tank Battalion in Twenty-nine Palms, CA.
Upon arrival in October 2003, 2ndLt Bariletti was assigned as 1st Platoon Commander, Company D, 1st Tank Battalion. In August 2004, 1stLt Bariletti was assigned as Tank Platoon Commander, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC). While deployed, he participated in Operation UNIFIED ASSISTANCE, rendering humanitarian assistance in response to the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004. After, the MEU conducted combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq while in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM II-III. Upon conclusion of the deployment in June 2005, 1stLt Bariletti became the Executive Officer of H&S Company and later transferred to Executive Officer of Company C to deploy to Al Anbar Province, Iraq while in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07 in September 2005.
In October 2006 Captain Bariletti was assigned to 2d Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Series Commander, and later became the Commanding Officer of Co E from April 2008 through September 2009. Once complete, Captain Bariletti attended the Maneuver Captains Career Course in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. In March 2010 Captain Bariletti was again assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, and immediately deployed as the Military Decision Making Process Lead Military-to-Military Instructor, and S-3A for the Black Sea Rotational Force (BSRF). Upon completion of the deployment, Captain Bariletti was assigned as the Operations Officer and conducted exercise STEEL KNIGHT 10. In October 2010, Captain Bariletti became the Commanding Officer of Co C, conducting a year of training exercises as a tank company. Thereafter, the company was re-missioned as a Route Clearance Company, and he deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan to conduct combat operations in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon his return, Captain Bariletti was assigned to the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group, where he served as the Academics Officer and a Battalion Faculty Advisor. Thereafter, Major Bariletti attended the Command and Staff College, and upon graduation, completed the USMC School of Advanced Warfighting, earning the Clifton B. Cates Award.
Upon graduation, Major Bariletti was assigned as the Deliberate Plans Officer for II Marine Expeditionary Force, where he was responsible for the development of Operation Plans (OPLANs), global force management, and served as the lead planner for II MEF participation in Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18. In August 2018, Major Bariletti was assigned as the Operations Officer for 24 Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he deployed aboard the IWOARG/24 MEU in support of TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18, and upon return deployed again in support of SPMAGTF-CR-AF.
LtCol Bariletti holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Pre-Law from the University of Central Florida (2002). Additionally he holds a Masters of Diplomacy from Norwich University (2010), a Master of Military Studies degree (2014), and a Master of Operational Studies degree (2015) from Marine Corps University. His other formal military education includes: The Basic School, the Armor Officer Basic Course (Commandant’s List), Expeditionary Warfare School, the USMC Martial Art Instructor Course (Honor Graduate), US Army Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (Distinguished Graduate), the USMC Operations and Tactics Instructor Course, Command and Staff College (Distinguished Graduate), and USMC School of Advanced Warfighting (Cliffton B. Cates Award).
LtCol Bariletti’s personal awards include the Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal w/two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal w/ gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon w/ gold star in lieu of 2nd award.
