Sergeant Major Wilson was born and raised in Mayesville, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1999 and attended boot camp at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation of boot camp, he reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he attended his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School earning the MOS 0151 an Administrative Clerk. His first assignment was to I Marine Expeditionary Headquarters Group (S-1) Camp Pendleton, California. During his time at I MHG, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
