As a majority of the nation begins to slowly reopen services, we want to thank you for continuing to support our mission of ‘Making Marines’ at MCRD San Diego. Our goal is to move toward re-establishing a time where your Marines can return to your community after graduation, and thank you for your support. Please know that Marine Corps leadership is closely tracking CDC and Navy Marine Corps Public Health Center updates and making decisions based on the latest information. Your health, and the health of your families, remains a top priority. Please click here for more information.
Recruit Families - We are proud to begin a prudent and disciplined reopening of graduation ceremony with a limited number of guests. In line with CDC guidelines, access to the installation for graduation will be restricted to (2) guests per graduating Marine.
The Process: Each Marine will mail graduation entry tickets to the (2) guests they choose and confirm the receipt of the tickets via telephone on training day 54. The guests must register for the graduation using the unique Eventbrite website address located on their ticket. After registration, each guest must present their ticket on graduation day to enter the installation. Each ticket will provide valid entry for (1) guest.
Graduation Day: Each guest will arrive at Gate 5 of MCRD San Diego (W Washington St & Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92110, Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92110), and present their original entry ticket during a vehicle search. Guests may begin arriving at 6:30 a.m., and will enter search lanes that correspond with the LAST NAME of their graduating Marine. Guests must have a temperature below 100 degrees F to enter the installation. Facial coverings will be mandatory while on the installation, and strict social distancing will be expected.
After graduation, new Marines will be granted a period of on-base liberty until 5:00 p.m. to spend time with their families. Services aboard depot will be open, with max capacity restrictions, for guests and new Marines to include: the command Museum, food sales, and retail sales. A full list is available at: http://www.mccsmcrd.com/gradinfo-covid-19/.
Guests will depart MCRD San Diego no later than 5:30 p.m. New Marines will continue to go directly to their next duty station at Camp Pendleton without leave. Guests are strongly urged to reconsider attending graduation if they are actively sick with a cough or fever, or have been in contact with a suspected case of COVID-19. We continue to urge precautions to ensure force health protection as vaccinations increase nationwide. Graduation will still be available online.
