Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego - A new recruit with Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, makes his initial phone call home, reading only what is printed in front of him, during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 14. Recruits will not be able to make another phone call until the end of recruit training. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Mike Company is scheduled to graduate Nov. 9.
