Colonel Chris P. McGuire

Colonel Chris McGuire is a native of Denver, Colorado. He is a 1999 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering and a commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. 

Colonel McGuire’s operational command and staff officer assignments include:  platoon level commands in 1st Battalion, 8th Marines; Rifle and Weapons Company Commands in 3d Battalion, 4th Marines; Battalion Executive Officer in 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion; Operations Officer of 7th Marine Regiment and SPMAGTF-CR-CC; and Commanding Officer of 2d Bn, 3d Mar.

His operational deployments include the 22d MEU, 26th MEU, three deployments in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, two deployments in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, and a UDP to Okinawa.

Colonel McGuire’s service in the supporting establishment and joint assignments include:  Enlisted Assignments, M&RA; Inspector & Instructor Bravo Co 1st Battalion, 23d Marines; HQMC Plans Policy & Operations; and Joint Duty with NORAD & USNORTHCOM where he served as the Joint Operations Center Director.

In addition to The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course, Colonel McGuire is a graduate of the US Army Infantry Captains Career Course and the Marine Corps War College.  He has earned master’s degrees in both National Security and Strategic Studies.

His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
