Sergeant Major Thomas A. Bachman

Sergeant Major Bachman was born in Denton, Texas on 29 August 1979.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps February 1999 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.  Upon graduation, he reported to Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, CA, for Marine Combat Training.  Upon completion, Sergeant Major Bachman reported to Marine Corps Personnel Administration School, Camp Johnson, Camp Lejeune, NC.

In August of 1999, Sergeant Major Bachman received orders to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in Twenty-nine Palms, CA. Upon completion of his tour in February of 2001, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to Combat Service Support Group-1, in Twenty-nine Palms, CA where he served as a personnel clerk.

Following his assignment with Combat Service Support Group-1, Sergeant Major Bachman reported to the Installation Personnel Admin Center, Headquarters Battalion, Twenty-nine Palms, CA where he served as a personnel clerk.  In March of 2003, Sergeant Major Bachman was attached to 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon his return from OIF I in August 2003, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to MACS-23, 4th Marine Air Wing, in Aurora CO where he served as a personnel clerk.  In February 2005, Sergeant Major Bachman was re-assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division as the Administration Chief.

In January 2006, Sergeant Major Bachman returned to Iraq with 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Fallujah Iraq in support of OIF II. Sergeant Major Bachman left Baghdad in October 2006 and was transferred to Quebec Battery, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division where he served as the Administration Chief. 

Sergeant Major Bachman attended Drill Instructor School in July of 2007. Upon graduation, Sergeant Major Bachman was assigned to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion Company L where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor.

In August 2010, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to Company H, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion in San Antonio, Texas where he served as the Administration Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In February 2014, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego CA where he served in 1st Recruit Training Battalion and Special Training Company as the Company First Sergeant.  In September 2017, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific Coronado, CA and assigned as the Command First Sergeant.  

In April of 2019, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to 1st Marine Corps District, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Boston for duties as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major. In July of 2022, Sergeant Major Bachman reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 15.

In October 2024, Sergeant Major Bachman was transferred to MCRD San Diego to assume the duties as the Sergeant Major of Headquarters and Service Battalion.

Sergeant Major Bachman's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award, and Combat Action Ribbon. Sergeant Major Bachman is married to Sarah M. Bachman of Rapid City, South Dakota and have two children.
