#CC0000

Recruits of Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, work together to attempt to find their next geographical point during the land navigation course at Edson Range, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 31. Each navigation point is marked with a numbered ammunition can, and each pair of recruits was given a different route to follow. Recruits are given five points to find along the course, and while they had already plotted where each point was, they have to use what they have learned to identify the correct direction. They were encouraged to use terrain features and navigation tools they were given to help them find their checkpoints. Today, all male recruits recruited from recruiting stations west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate May 8.
