Major M. Adam Harris

Major Harris was born on 2 February 1982 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 2001. He reported to MCRD San Diego for recruit training and graduated from Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion as the Platoon Honor Graduate and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.  Major Harris then reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California followed by Aviation Technician training in Pensacola, Florida where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. He was assigned the MOS of 6216 KC-130 Mechanic and assigned to VMGR-452 in Newburgh, New York in May 2003.

Major Harris was promoted to Corporal in July of 2003 and deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in August of 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He received a meritorious combat promotion to Sergeant in March of 2005. Upon his return from deployment, he served as an instructor at the MAG-49 Corporals Course serving as a Faculty Advisor, Physical Training Instructor, Drill Master, and Chief Instructor.

In September 2006, Major Harris reported to Drill Instructor School Class 1-07, MCRD San Diego, California where he graduated as the #3 Honor Graduate and was assigned to Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. He completed seven cycles with Company B as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor and was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in July 2008. In February 2009, Major Harris was selected to serve as the 1st Recruit Training Battalion Drill Master. He served as the Drill Master for 15 months.

In May 2010, Major Harris was selected to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and attended the University of San Diego as a History Major, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in May 2013. Upon completion of The Basic School and Logistics Officers Course, Major Harris reported to 1st Transportation Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California in August 2014 where he served as the S-4A, Motor Transport Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Current Operations Officer for CLR-1. In August 2017, Major Harris reported to Point Loma Nazarene University to pursue a Master of Arts Degree in Education. He was promoted to Captain in December 2017 and graduated with a 4.0 grade point average in July 2019.

In August 2019, Major Harris reported to Training and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia where he served in the TECOM G-3 as the Entry Level Training Officer. In July 2022, Major Harris reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38, MCAS Miramar, where he served as the Squadron Logistics Officer.  He was promoted to Major in May of 2023 and reported to 2d Recruit Training Battalion and served as the Battalion Executive Officer until June 2025, when he took over as the Director of Drill Instructor School

Major Harris’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and Drill Instructor Ribbon.

Major Harris has been married to his wife Cassondra for over 22 years, and they have two children.
