Private First Class Armando Sajbin, Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, posts as security during the Crucible at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 24. The Crucible is a 54-hour test of endurance where recruits must conquer more than 30 different obstacles while they experience food and sleep deprivation. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego.
