Colonel Wallace assumed command of Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, on May 30, 2025. He previously commanded Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 (HMLAT-303) from 2019 to 2021.
A native of LaGrange, Kentucky, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Kentucky University and was commissioned into the Marine Corps in December 2001 via the Platoon Leaders Course. He became an unrestricted Naval Aviator in May 2004, and qualified in the UH-1 in October 2004.
His operational tours include assignments with HMLA-269; VMM-162 (Reinforced)/24th Marine Expeditionary Unit; HMLA-467; and VMM-264 (Reinforced)/22d Marine Expeditionary Unit. He deployed four times in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, once in support of Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, and once in support of Operation ODYSSEY LIGHTENING.
Colonel Wallace’s staff assignments include serving as the UH-1 Division Head and Assault Support Department Head at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 (MAWTS-1) in Yuma, AZ; the AH-1Z and UH-1Y Requirements Officer at Headquarters Marine Corps Aviation Department in Washington, D.C.; the Deputy Global Force Management Chief and Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff at United States European Command in Vaihingen, Germany; and the Air Officer and Deputy G-3 at the 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, CA.
He graduated from Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific’s Tactical Air Control Party School in Coronado, California, and is a distinguished graduate of the United States Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, where he earned a Master of Military Arts and Science degree in Strategic Studies. Colonel Wallace also attended the Israel National Defense College in Herzliya, Israel, earning a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Haifa.
Throughout his career, he has had the honor of serving in commands awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal (with three gold stars); the Air Medal (with numeral 14); the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal; and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with gold star).
