Major Rich D. Vallee

Major Vallee is assigned as the Commanding Officer of Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region, San Diego, CA.

Major Vallee was born in Modesto, CA and was raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1977 - 1984.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 27 February 1989 and was meritoriously promoted to Private First class upon graduation from Recruit Training. 

Following Marine Combat Training, he was assigned to 2nd Light Antiaircraft Missle (2nd LAAM) Bn, Yuma, AZ in November of 1989.  During this tour, Major Vallee deployed to the Persian Gulf ISO of Desert Shield/Storm on 10 August 1990. In December 1992, Major Vallee was transferred to Recruiter's School in San Diego, CA, and was subsequently assigned to Recruiting Station Los Angeles as a Canvassing Recruiter. 

Major Vallee received an Honorable Discharge in October 1995 to pursue a career in law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.).  In 1997, Mr. Vallee resigned from the L.A.P.D. to accept a position as Director of Operations with Harte-Hanks Response Management; in 1999, Mr. Vallee was recruited to become the Regional Director of Operations and General Manager of facilities for the Cardinal Health Pharmaceutical Division.

In June 2001, Major Vallee reported to Officer Candidate School for duty.  Following completion of the Basic School in March 2002, Major Vallee proceeded to MALS-39 at Camp Pendleton, CA for on-the-job-training prior to reporting to the Marine Officer Aviation Logistics Course in Athens, GA in August 2002. 

Upon graduation from Marine Officer Aviation Logistics Course in December 2002, Major Vallee returned for duty at MALS-39 and served as the OIC of multiple divisions.  In June of 2004, Major Vallee was assigned to MCRD, San Diego, CA and served as a Series Commander in Bravo Company for six training cycles, and was subsequently frocked to Captain to assume command of Alpha Company, wherein he served an additional three training cycles. 

In January 2007, Major Vallee was assigned as the Operations Officer of Headquarters Service Bn until June 2007.  In July 2007, Major Vallee was assigned as the A-OIC of the H-1 Yankee-Zulu Fleet Introduction Transition Team (H-1 F.I.T.).  In August 2008, Major Vallee volunteered as an Individual Augment serving as the Director of Border Enforcement with the Iraqi Security Forces in Fallujah, Iraq with I-MEF FWD. 

In February 2009, Major Vallee returned to the H-1 F.I.T. for duty.  In July 2009, Major Vallee proceeded to MALS-12 in Iwakuni, Japan serving as the Aviation Supply Officer.  In January of 2011, Major Vallee was assigned to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron-3, Miramar, CA to serve as the Wing Operations Officer.

In January of 2012, Major Vallee was assigned to MCRD San Diego, HQSVC Bn where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer.  As of June 2012, Major Vallee serves in his current assignment as the Commanding Officer of Headquarters Company, HQSVC Bn, MCRD San Diego. 

Major Vallee's personal decorations include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th award) and the Navy Achievement Medal.
