Brigadier General William M. Jurney, commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego/Western Recruiting Region, hands cake to the oldest and youngest Marine veterans at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System, Nov. 7. Jurney took part in a cake cutting ceremony in celebration of the Marine Corps’ 241st birthday, which is Nov. 10, 1775. Traditionally, the first two pieces of cake are presented to the oldest and youngest Marines present, which symbolizes the passing of Marine Corps traditions.
