Recruits of Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, carry their packs after finishing the 25-meter swim during the Water Survival Basic Qualification at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, April 11. Although the majority of recruit training is focused on land-based training, combat water survival training is just as critical to learn. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate June 10.
