A recruit of Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, conducts the fireman’s carry with a fellow recruit during the maneuver-under-fire portion of the Combat Fitness Test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 10. The course for this portion covers 75 yards and requires recruits to perform exercises such as sprints, ammunition can carries, fireman’s carry and throwing a simulated grenade at a marked target. Recruits were timed as they ran through the course and needed to finish it in less than 2 minutes and 14 seconds for maximum points. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate April 1.
