Staff Sergeant Joshua M. Cardona, drill instructor, Receiving Company, Support Battalion, greets the new recruits of Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 19. Once the recruits step off the bus, they immediately begin the transformation from civilian to Marine. Annually, more than 17,000 male recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Mike Company is scheduled to graduate April 15.
