New recruits of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, receive their first haircuts during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 7. Recruits receive haircuts immediately after arriving to create uniformity. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate March 4.
