#CC0000

Recruit Brett C. Waters, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, practices his prone position during Grass Week at Edson Range, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 14. Snapping in allows recruits to build muscle memory in each of the four shooting positions, and begin to apply what they’ve learned. Recruits sight in on white drums with targets painted on them simulate the actual targets that they will see at various firing lines. The following week, the recruits of Charlie Company will head down range and make use of what they learned and qualify for their marksmanship badges. Today, all male recruits recruited from recruiting stations west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate June 5. Waters is a native of Thornton, Colo., and was recruited of Recruiting Station Denver.
