Private First Class William R. Potter, Platoon 2166, Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, receives instruction prior to taking on the different challenges of the 12 Stalls event at Edson Range, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 31. This event is designed to build small unit leadership within a fire team. The fire teams were given only a small set of tools and instructions and were on their way to complete each mission. The instructions described their task to be completed as well as guidelines they must follow to successfully complete the challenge. Today, all male recruits recruited from recruiting stations west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training over 16,000 recruits annually. Company H is scheduled to graduate from recruit training, April 10.
