Gen. Fang Fenghui, chief of the general staff, People's Republic of China, watches recruits perform rifle manual in their squad bay alongside Brig. Gen. James W. Bierman, Jr., commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and Western Recruiting Region. The demonstration was part of a tour designed to show Fang and approximately 22 delegates from the People's Republic of China, the making of Marines during their visit at the depot May 14. After viewing the recruits in their squad bay, Fang and the other visitors moved to the training area to witness recruits experience hand-to-hand combat training.
