Both men were awarded their medals for their actions during the first Battle of Khe Sanh on April 30, 1967 while serving with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. “Take care of each other,” said Cordileone.  “We’re family. We’re brothers. Never leave one behind.”
