Children of all ages were encouraged to participate in the "Ruff" Readers program held at the library Aug. 8 aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Program educates children on the importance of being a pet owner and encourages children to be active readers. The dogs came from Independent Therapy Dogs, Inc. and were escorted by their handlers Margaret Klingensmith and Shirley Colman, founder of ITD, Inc.
