An instructor supervises a recruit of Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, as he learns to tread water May 22 at the swim tank aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. It is important that every recruit learns how to swim with combat utility uniforms as well as combat boots so they can understand how difficult it is to swim under these conditions.
