MISSION: Weapons and Field Training Battalion conducts entry level marksmanship and combat marksmanship training; provides professional instruction on and evaluation of basic military field skills; and supervises the execution of the culminating event for Recruit Training - the Crucible.

Private First Class Luis A. Escobedo, a U.S. Marine with Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, is welcomed by a loved one during liberty call at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Dec. 16, 2021. Escobedo was recruited from McAllen, Texas with Recruiting Substation McAllen, Texas. While in recruit training, Escobedo’s daughter was born Nov. 13, 2021.
