Chief Warrant Officer 2 Stephanie Wire enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and began Recruit Training in December 1993 at Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation from Recruit Training, she attended the Armed Forces School of Music Basic Course in Norfolk, Virginia.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire has served as a flute and piccolo player from September 1994 to January 2005 in the following bands: III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, 2nd Marine Division Band, Marine Forces Pacific Band, and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Marine Band. She also served as a vocalist, Music Librarian, Transportation Noncommissioned Officer (NCO), Training NCO and Staff NCO in charge (SNCOIC), Public Affairs SNCOIC, and assistant conductor.
From January to September 2005, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire attended the School of Music Intermediate Course and also was selected to be an Enlisted Conductor.
Upon graduation, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire was assigned as the Enlisted Conductor of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band. During her tour, she deployed with the Wing as the Platoon Commander of the Tactical Air Command Center Security Platoon.
In May 2007, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire was selected to be the Musician Technical Assistant (MTA) for the 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon completion of Recruiter‟s School in October 2007, she served as the MTA until she was selected to be a Band Officer in September 2009.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire attended The Basic School from January to May 2010 and reported for duty with the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band, Twentynine Palms, California, in June 2010. Highlights of her tour with the Combat Center Band include the annual Holiday Concert at the Palm Springs Convention Center, the Las Vegas International Tattoo, and the annual Scottish Highland Games and Tattoo in Estes Park, Colorado.
In August 2011, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wire reported for duty as the Band Officer of Marine Band San Diego, where she currently serves.
Chief Warrant Officer Wire's awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award), Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Navy Unit Commendation (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd award), National Defense Medal (2nd award), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Service Deployment (3rd award), Recruiting Campaign award, Rifle Expert (11th award) and pistol expert (8th award).
