First Sergeant Wesley O. Turner II
First Sergeant, Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion
First Sergeant Turner was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 6, 1979. 1stSgt Turner enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1997, he did his training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon graduating recruit training as the Platoon Honor Man and Marine Combat Training as the Company Honor Man, PFC Turner was transferred to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for primary MOS training as a Motor Transport Operator. PFC Turner reported for duty as a Motor Transport Operator to 7th Motor Transport Battalion Camp Pendleton, Ca in May of 1998.
In October 1998 PFC Turner was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal, in February of 1999, LCpl Turner reported to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit where he served as Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader and Line Noncommissioned Officer. In September of 1999, LCpl Turner was meritoriously promoted to Corporal. While with the 15th MEU Cpl Turner deployed to the Western Pacific where he participated in Operation Southern Watch and Operation Stabilize. In July of 2000 Cpl Turner returned to the United States and then again deployed to the Western Pacific.
In December of 2000 Cpl Turner was promoted to Sgt and was then deployed in August of 2001 to the Western Pacific. In October 2001 Sgt Turner deployed to Afghanistan and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and returned in March of 2002. In July of 2002 Sgt Turner reported to Drill Instructor School at MCRD San Diego, Ca for training as a Drill Instructor. Upon graduation from DI school Sgt Turner was assigned to Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor and was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In December of 2002 Sgt Turner received the GySgt Nichols Award for being the best New Drill Instructor. In February of 2005 SSgt Turner was transferred to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion Reassignment Section where he served as the Reassignment Chief. In October of 2005 SSgt Turner reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 5 Camp Pendleton, Ca where he served as Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, Assistant Convoy Commander and Convoy Commander. In February of 2006 SSgt Turner deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and returned in September of 2006.
In February of 2007 SSgt Turner was transferred to 2nd Maintenance Battalion and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and returned in September of 2007. In October of 2007 SSgt Turner was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 5 where he served as Battalion Training Chief and COC Watch Chief. In August of 2008 SSgt Turner was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In October 2008 SSgt Turner was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. GySgt Turner returned from his tour in Iraq in March of 2009. In August of 2009 GySgt Turner was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 MCAS Miramar, Ca where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10.2 and served as the Company First Sergeant for Engineer Company, Airfield Operations Company and the Director of the MCAS Miramar Corporals Course.
In July of 2012 Gunnery Sergeant Turner was transferred to Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Regimental Motor Transport Chief. In February 2013 GySgt Turner was frocked and appointed as the Headquarters Battery First Sergeant. In May 2013 1stSgt Turner was transferred to 2d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion MCAS Cherry Point, N.C where he was assigned as the Battery B First Sergeant. In July 2015 he was transferred to Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion MCRD San Diego, Ca where he is currently assigned as the Service Company First Sergeant.
