Recruits from Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, hold out their camouflage utilities uniforms during pick up at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 11. The recruits were inspected to see if their uniforms were marked properly. After spending the first week conducting in-processing, recruits marched to their new squad bay where their drill instructors introduced themselves, recited the Drill Instructor Creed and began carrying out the mission of transforming civilians into United States Marines. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Nov. 3.
