Sergeant Major Edwin O. Hidalgo Sergeant Major, Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment Marine Corps Recruit Depot

SgtMaj Hidalgo enlisted in the Marine Corps on 29 March 1999, and attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, CA.  Following MCT, he reported to the Aviation Operation Specialist School at Meridian, MS where he received the MOS of 7041. 

In October 1999, PFC Hidalgo reported to VMFA-312, MAG-31, Beaufort, SC, where he served as a Training NCO, CMCC NCO, and Operations Chief.   

In October 2001, Cpl Hidalgo was reassigned to Base Operations, Headquarter & Service Battalion, MCAS Beaufort where he served as the Flight Clearance Chief/Expeditionary Airfield Chief.   

In September 2004, Sgt Hidalgo reported to I MEF as an Individual Augment for deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, where he served as Air Boss Chief of FOB Duke attached to the 11th MEU. In March 2005, he was reassigned to the 24th MEU at FOB Kalsu as the Assistant Air Boss. 

In May 2005, Sgt Hidalgo reported back to MCAS Beaufort where he served as the Assistant Airfield Manager and Airfield Operations Chief.

In March 2007, SSgt Hidalgo received orders to Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, CA and graduated 20 June 2007. 

In August 2007, SSgt Hidalgo reported to 2d Battalion, Company G where he filled the following billets; Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor.  SSgt Hidalgo was a recipient of the Dan Daly award in recognition as the best new Drill Instructor in Golf Company.  He was also a recipient of the GySgt Nichols award in recognition as the best Drill Instructor in 2d Battalion.

In March 2009, he reported to 2d Battalion, where served as the Battalion Drill Master. SSgt Hidalgo was selected serve as the Regimental Drill Master in October 2010.  He was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.
In June 2011 GySgt Hidalgo received orders to MAG-24, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he served as the HQ Company 1stSgt and Operations Chief.

In March 2014, 1stSgt Hidalgo received orders to 3d Civil Affairs Group in Great Lakes, IL where he served as I&I First Sergeant.

In June 2017, 1stSgt Hidalgo received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines were he served as the Company 1stSgt for Company C.

In January 2018, SgtMaj Hidalgo assumed his post as the 2d Battalion, SgtMaj.
SgtMaj Hidalgo’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
