Sergeant Major, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot
Sergeant Major Robert C. Ixtlahuac

Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 18, 1993 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California.  Upon completion of recruit training he reported to Marine Corps Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California.  Following MCT, he attended the Basic Food Service School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.  After completion of his MOS training Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac reported to Headquarters Battalion Marine Corps Base Twenty-Nine Palms, California.

 In April 1996, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan where he served as a Chief Cook.  In May of 1997, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to 1st Radio Battalion Marine Corps Base, Hawaii, where he served as a Chief Cook, Assistant Chief Cook, and Quality Assurance Evaluator.

 In September 2000, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to Drill Instructor School Class 1-01.  Upon graduation in December 2000, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac was assigned to Lima Company, Third Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Chief Drill Instructor, and S-3 Operations Chief for Third Recruit Training Battalion.

 In January 2004, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee, Virginia, for duty as a Food Service Instructor for his MOS, and also was the S-3 Operations Chief for the Detachment.  In the summer of 2004 Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac served as a Sergeant Instructor for Kilo Company and the summer of 2005 served as a Sergeant Instructor for Alpha Company at Officer Candidate School Quantico, Virginia.  In November 2006, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac reported to Base Food Service Quantico Virginia where he served as the Food Service Operations Chief and also a Platoon Sergeant for Alpha Co. in the summers of 2006 & 2007 at Officer Candidate School.

 In November of 2007, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac deployed as an Individual Augment to Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan where he served as a Battle Major for the 82nd Airborne and the 101st. In July of 2008, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Headquarters & Service Company First Sergeant and deployed to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In May of 2010, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and served as the Company First Sergeant for Golf Company Second Recruit Training Battalion.

 In May 2012, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac reported to 1st Battalion 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. During his tenure at 1st Battalion 5th Marines, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac served as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha Company where he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.  He also served as the Company First Sergeant for Weapons Company and deployed to the Marine Rotational Force Darwin, Australia. In January 2015, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac reported to Recruiting Station Denver as the Station Sergeant Major. In January 2018 he reported to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. In April of 2020, Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac assumed his current assignment as the Sergeant Major for Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Ca.

Sergeant Major Ixtlahuac’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
