Recruits from Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, float at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 20. The recruits were required to tread water for four minutes to enable them to move on to the next portion of the basic water survival test. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate April 20.

A recruit of Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, descends a rappel tower at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 2. One of the techniques learned was how to apply a “brake hand,” which is used to adjust the speed while descending the tower. The recruits were given gloves to protect their hands as well as to serve as an extra grip on the rope and a helmet and harness were worn for safety. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Kilo Company is scheduled to graduate March 16.

The MCMAP classes teach recruits basic combat techniques and instill a warrior ethos as they transform into Marines. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 2.

At this point, recruits are informed of the articles of the UCMJ that apply to them while they are in recruit training. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate April 6.

The new Marines of Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, reunite with their loved ones during family day at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, today.
After nearly thirteen weeks of training, the Marines of Bravo Company will officially graduate from recruit training tomorrow.
