Lieutenant Colonel Grayson serves as Commanding Officer, First Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot / Western Recruiting Region, San Diego, CA.
Lieutenant Colonel Grayson was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. He was commissioned in 2002 through the University of Colorado’s NROTC program where he earned a B.S. in Finance. After completing initial training at The Basic School and Financial Management School in 2003, he was assigned to Regional Disbursing Office Pacific in Okinawa, Japan.
In 2004, Lieutenant Colonel Grayson transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC and served as the Station’s Finance Officer until 2006. He then reported to Second Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot / Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, SC for duty as a Series Commander. In 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Grayson transferred to Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA where he served as Deputy Comptroller, Training Command and attended Expeditionary Warfare School.
From 2012 to 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Grayson served as Deputy Comptroller, 12th Marine Corps Recruiting District, San Diego, CA. In 2016, he earned an MBA in Financial Management from the Graduate School of Defense Management, Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, CA. From 2017 to 2019, he served as instructor and Marine Corps’ representative at the Defense Resources Management Institute aboard the NPS campus. Lieutenant Colonel Grayson most recently served as Assistant Chief of Staff, G-8, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA from 2019 to 2021.
