Jeremy W. Schnarr

 
Major Schnarr was born on 20 December 1979 in Jasper, IN.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1997 and graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in 1998.  Following MOS training at Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, Twentynine Palms, CA, he served in Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 as a Small Computer Systems Specialist.
 
In 2000, Major Schnarr was assigned to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Norfolk, VA and served as a Small Computer Systems Specialist. In July 2002, he completed his End of Active Service and entered the Individual Ready Reserve.
 
In 2002, Major Schnarr attended Indiana University receiving an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in November 2005, graduating in 2006.  After accepting his commission in November 2007, Major Schnarr completed The Basic School and reported to Basic Communications Officer Course, Quantico, VA in 2008.
 
In 2009, Major Schnarr was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 2 (CLR-2), Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as the Assistant Communications Officer.  In April 2009, he deployed with CLR-2 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Upon his return in April 2010, Major Schnarr served as the Regimental Communications Officer for CLR-2.
 
In 2011, Major Schnarr was assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island and reported for duty to Company I, 3d Recruit Training Battalion.  He served as the Lead Series Commander, Company I, from June 2011 until August 2012.  In August 2012, Major Schnarr transferred to Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as the Company Executive Officer until May 2013.  He then transferred to Recruit Processing Company, Support Battalion where he served as the Company Commander until June 2014. 
 
In July 2014, Major Schnarr was assigned to Communications Company, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA.  He served as the Company Operations Officer for four months before taking over as Company Executive Officer. In June 2017, Major Schnarr was assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton where he was appointed to serve as the Headquarters and Service Company Commander.  He served in this billet until December 2017 when he took over as the Battalion Operations Officer. 
 
In July 2018, Major Schnarr was assigned to III MEF, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the G-6 Future Operations. In July 2020, Major Schnarr was assigned to 3d Recruit Training Battalion, Regiment Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA, where he served as the Battalion Executive Officer until June 2021.
 
Major Schnarr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University (2006). His other formal military education includes: Recruit Training, Small Computer Systems Specialist Course, The Basic School, Basic Communications Officer Course, Distant Education Expeditionary Warfare School, and Distance Education Command and Staff College.
 
Major Schnarr’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Major Schnarr is married to the former Elizabeth Wigand from Dubois, IN.  They have one child.
