Sergeant Major Turner was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 6, 1979.  SgtMaj Turner enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1997, and completed his recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  Upon graduating recruit training in February 1998 as the Platoon Honor Man and Marine Combat Training in April 1998, PFC Turner was assigned to the Motor Transport Operators Course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for primary MOS training as a (3531) Motor Transport Operator.

Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California - Sergeant Major Turner was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 6, 1979. SgtMaj Turner enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1997, and completed his recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon graduating recruit training in February 1998 as the Platoon Honor Man and Marine Combat Training in April 1998, PFC Turner was assigned to the Motor Transport Operators Course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for primary MOS training as a (3531) Motor Transport Operator. In December of 2002 Sgt Turner received the GySgt Nichols Award for being the best New Drill Instructor out of his class. In February of 2005 SSgt Turner was transferred to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion Reassignment Section where he served as the Reassignment Chief. In October of 2005 SSgt Turner reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 5 Camp Pendleton, Ca where he served as Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, Assistant Convoy Commander and Convoy Commander. In May 2013 1stSgt Turner was transferred to 2d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion MCAS Cherry Point, N.C where he was assigned as the Battery B First Sergeant. In July 2015 he was transferred to Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion MCRD San Diego, Ca as the Service Company First Sergeant until his selection to SgtMaj in November 2016. In January 2017 SgtMaj Turner assumed his current post as the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion Sergeant Major. SgtMaj Turner’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ 2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/one silver star in lieu of 6th award, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with one silver star in lieu of 6th award and the Combat Action ribbon.
