Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego - A drill instructor of Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, instructs a recruit to war cry while crawling through a tunnel during the Bayonet Assault Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 8. Yelling while going through physical training events allows a recruit to develop the strength of their vocal cords to overpower the loudness of combat. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 1.
