Sergeant Major Devon A. Lee Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Western Recruiting Region

Sergeant Major Devon A. Lee is a native of Alexandria, Virginia and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in July 1993.

 

Upon graduation, he attended communications school at Twentynine Palms, California. After graduation, he reported to the 3rd Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Intelligence Group Okinawa, Japan. There he served in the billets of Radio Operator, Team Leader, and Squad Leader.

 

In March 1997, Sergeant Major Lee reported to Drill Instructor School, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris, upon graduation he reported to the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. There he served in the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In May of 2000, he reported Officer Candidates School, Quantico, Virginia. There he served in the billets of Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Master and Operations Chief.

 

In July 2004, Sergeant Major Lee reported to the 3rd Force Service Support Group, Communications Company Okinawa, Japan. There he served in the billets of Operations Chief and Communications Chief. In June 2006, Sergeant Major Lee reported to 1st Marine Division, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. There he served as the First Sergeant for Company C, and Headquarters & Service Company.

 

In June 2009, Sergeant Major Lee reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. There he served in the billets of First Sergeant, Company D and Sergeant Major, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. In June 2011, Sergeant Major Lee reported to the 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California. There he served as the Inspector-Instructor, Sergeant Major. In June 2013, he reported to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 in Okinawa, Japan. There he served as the Squadron Sergeant Major, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and Aviation Combat Element Sergeant Major, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

 

In January 2015, Sergeant Major Lee reported to the III MEF Headquarters. There he served as the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III MEF Headquarters Group, and Camp Hansen Sergeant Major. In June 2016, Sergeant Major Lee reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One.

 

Sergeant Major Lee’s major deployments include two tours in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, and four humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief deployments in the Philippines x 2, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

 

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal in Lieu of Second Award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in Lieu of Third Award, Navy and Marines Corps Achievement Medal in Lieu of Fourth Award and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
